ANZAC biscuits A traditional recipe for Anzac Biscuits in honor of Australia's Anzac Day, a memorial day for Australian war veterans. You can cook ANZAC biscuits using 7 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of ANZAC biscuits

  1. Prepare 1 cup of all purpose flour.
  2. You need 1 cup of rolled oats.
  3. You need 2/3 cup of raw sugar (or brown sugar).
  4. You need 1 cup of dried desiccated coconut (2/3 cup if fresh).
  5. You need 125 g of butter.
  6. It's 2 Tbs of Golden syrup (can be opted to maple syrup or honey).
  7. It's 1/2 tsp of bicarb soda.

ANZAC biscuits are the most well known (and popular!) biscuit recipe in Australia. ANZAC stands for "Australian and New Zealand Army Corps" and these biscuits are traditionally made to commemorate. Spray your measuring spoon with a little cooking oil spray before scooping up the golden syrup; this will help prevent the syrup sticking to the spoon. And while Anzac biscuits are "the only purely commercial use of the word 'Anzac' that is generally approved", the word must still be used respectfully, especially in advertising.
